Density decides everything at the oche. Tungsten is more than twice as dense as brass, so the same weight fits into a far smaller barrel, and every Legend dart is machined from 90% tungsten alloy. Here is why that matters.

Pure tungsten weighs 19.25 g/cm³ against roughly 8.5 for brass. A 90% alloy packs the full weight of the dart into a fraction of the volume, so the mass sits exactly where your grip expects it, not spread along an oversized barrel.

Ø 6.4 mm at 22 g
Less volume means a narrower barrel. A typical 22 g dart drops from around 8.8 mm across in brass to about 6.4 mm in 90% tungsten. Slimmer in the hand, truer through the air, and the grip machining holds its edge far longer than softer metals.

A slimmer barrel leaves more of the target open. When your first two darts sit in the treble, the third still has room to land beside them instead of deflecting off them. Three in a bed starts with the width of the barrel.
